Lars leads Spencer Stuart’s Board and CEO Practice in Germany and Austria and is a member of the firm’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications and Digital & Technology Officer practices in EMEA. Lars partners with AI, digital, software and other technology companies, as well as investors and traditional industry clients undergoing digital transformation, to recruit and assess senior executives and non executive directors. He is a trusted client adviser on leadership culture, organizational effectiveness and executive team dynamics.

  • Advising supervisory boards, investors and founders on CEO succession, board composition, governance excellence, leadership culture and senior leadership effectiveness across Germany and Austria.
  • Board search mandates across the technology spectrum — from major tech companies to traditional, non tech companies seeking digital transformation leadership — including supervisory board, advisory board and non executive director appointments, with a focus on board-level digital, data and AI capabilities.
  • CEO search mandates for PE backed and non PE backed software and digital technology companies across Germany and Europe, supporting growth, transformation and value creation agendas in high scale, high complexity environments.
  • Advising on executive searches for CIO, CDO and CTO roles for Fortune 500 companies worldwide, as well as technology and data driven business unit leadership roles for international technology and telecommunications groups.

Previous experience

  • Before taking on leadership of the Board and CEO Practice, Lars served as Spencer Stuart’s managing director for Germany and Austria. He oversaw regional operations and helped grow and transform the four offices in the region to advance the firm’s strategic objectives.
  • He also led the firm’s Digital & Technology Officer Practice in EMEA, shaping senior level appointments across technology leadership, data and digital functions for clients ranging from high growth software companies to multinational enterprises.
  • Earlier, Lars held various leadership roles at SAP, most recently managing the organization’s global management consultancy focused on digital transformation.
