Janine Ames is a leadership consultant based in Spencer Stuart’s Stamford office. An expert in executive assessment and development as well as CEO and CXO succession planning, Janine works with organizations to optimize the performance, growth and professional satisfaction of their senior executives. Working with hundreds of clients during her Spencer Stuart career, Janine has advised executives, boards and leadership teams on attracting and developing their senior talent.
Leadership succession and development
- Janine has more than 30 years of experience in strategy consulting, talent management, executive recruiting and leadership consulting across a variety of industry sectors. She is passionate about working with boards and other decision makers in assessing the skills their leaders need to succeed and in developing strong leadership teams with the skills, knowledge and chemistry to work well together.
- She is a leader in helping companies achieve their diversity goals through unbiased assessment and inclusive talent strategies. She is a frequent speaker and writer on gender diversity topics.
- Janine has particular expertise in business and professional services, including leadership of Spencer Stuart’s team in that industry. Before joining Spencer Stuart, Janine worked at McKinsey, first as a strategy consultant and later as the leader of recruiting and professional development for the firm’s North American Technology Practice.
- In between roles at McKinsey, Janine helped launch a start-up, LiveAdvice, an online expert services marketplace for small businesses. As the CFO and head of strategy, Janine helped raise $60 million in venture capital and grew the company to nearly 100 employees before negotiating its sale to a strategic buyer.
Janine holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Janine is an accredited coach from Meyler Campbell’s Unleashed leadership development program, and she is certified in Spencer Stuart’s Advanced Leadership Profile (ALP) proprietary assessment methodology.
