Hugh Thorneycroft is a member of Spencer Stuart’s industrial team where he advises energy, industrial and infrastructure companies on CEO succession and senior executive and board appointments. He co-founded the firm’s Infrastructure Practice. He also co-leads Spencer Stuart’s regional operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Global Leadership Team.
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Hugh spent seven years with ICI Chemicals & Polymers, working in a series of sales and marketing roles.
- This was followed by a three-year assignment to ICI Australia (now Orica Pty) in Melbourne, where he ran the industrial markets business of Orica Chemnet division.
- After leaving Australia to study in Switzerland, Hugh joined Marakon Associates, the strategy consultancy, for seven years, working for clients across Europe in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), financial services, telecoms, healthcare and energy sectors. The projects were grounded in “value-based management” disciplines and covered portfolio and business unit strategy, business planning, performance management, channel management, shared services, investor relations and organisation design.
Hugh graduated with honours from Durham University with a degree in history and earned an MBA at IMD, the International Institute for Management Development, Switzerland.
