Based in Atlanta, Greg Vaughn brings 30 years of experience as a healthcare executive and surgeon to Spencer Stuart’s Healthcare Practice. Greg’s principal sector focus is healthcare systems and services with specific expertise in physician and non-physician senior executives. In addition, he works to cultivate diverse board director candidates.
Greg’s extensive healthcare experience prior to joining Spencer Stuart includes leadership positions in executive & general management, sales & marketing management and management consulting.
Wide-ranging healthcare and executive management experience
- Greg was CEO of Bauerfeind USA, a medical device and sports products company based in Germany. In this role, he led the transformation of the U.S. business to a consumer-centric sales and marketing enterprise and launched a new sports products line.
- Prior to his CEO role, Greg spent nine years at Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology solutions and services. He led two “start-up” entities, securing FDA clearances and launching two spinal products.
- Before his medical technology management roles, Greg was vice president at NDCHealth (now RelayHealth Pharmacy Solutions of McKesson). He also worked as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, where he served clients on talent, organization, strategy and operations projects.
- Prior to transitioning to management consulting, Greg practiced in both academic and private clinic settings as a board-certified ophthalmologist and oculofacial & reconstructive surgeon.
Greg earned a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in history from Emory University and a M.D. from Harvard Medical School. Greg’s active civic engagement includes serving on the Emory University Board of Trustees, Woodruff Health Sciences Center Board, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta Board of Directors, Achieve Atlanta Board of Directors, and The Carter Center Board of Trustees. Greg is a Senior Advisor to the Georgia Research Alliance.
