Based in Spencer Stuart’s Shanghai office, Alex Zhu leads the Supply Chain & Operations Officer Practice in Asia Pacific and is a core member of the firm’s global Industrial and Technology Officer practices. He brings more than 20 years of executive search and leadership advisory experience. Since joining Spencer Stuart in 2007, Alex has advised a diverse range of clients—from start-ups and middle-market enterprises to Fortune 500 corporations—as well as private equity firms and their portfolio companies on C-suite and regional leadership appointments. His extensive work with both multinational and leading Chinese companies gives him a distinctive perspective on the leadership, capabilities and operating models required to compete across China, Asia Pacific and global markets. His work encompasses leadership searches across the C-suite and senior executive ranks, including CEOs, CHROs, chief supply chain officers, chief procurement officers, manufacturing and operations leaders, CIOs, CTOs and other digital executives.

- Alex advises senior executives and boards on China and the broader Asia Pacific region, leadership succession and the “New MNC” model, which integrates China-built capabilities with global scale. He supports multinational companies in adapting their organizations and leadership agenda across the region, while helping Chinese companies build international leadership teams.
- He has developed expertise in digital transformation, AI infrastructure and clean energy. His work focuses on the leadership required to build and scale businesses across semiconductors, data centers, cloud and computing platforms, solar energy, batteries and supporting infrastructure. He helps clients identify leaders who can deploy AI, digitize operations and translate emerging technologies into business impact, connecting technology leadership with strategy, supply chain resilience, energy transition and industrial transformation.
- Before joining Spencer Stuart, Alex worked in the Technology Practice of an international organizational advisory firm. Earlier in his career, he worked for a Chinese government organization, where he recruited industry experts from overseas.
Alex holds an executive M.B.A. from IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland, and is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
