Giovanna Gallì leads Spencer Stuart's Financial Services Practice in Europe, Middle East and Africa and is a member of the Board Services Practice. She advises clients across geographies, offering a broad range of services spanning executive search, leadership advisory and corporate governance. Giovanna has helped many established European financial services players in insurance and banking on board and executive recruitment, succession and culture-related topics.
In addition to her client work, since May 2021 she has served as a director on the Spencer Stuart’s Global Board. Giovanna is currently a member of the G20 Women’s Forum Advisory Board and participates regularly in workshops and events at both the local and international level to foster gender equality and inclusion.
Expertise in financial services
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Giovanna worked for several leading international institutions. In particular, for more than 15 years she held various leadership roles at GE Capital, where she has started her career in the M&A team in London with a focus on acquisitions, mainly in Southern Europe. For several years she led the business development activity for GE Capital Group and dealt with all financial divisions. She managed critical integration and restructuring processes in different areas of financial services, with strong emphasis on BD functions, strategy, sales and marketing.
- At Spencer Stuart her work is characterized by a holistic approach that targets searches for both CEOs and senior executives, as well as projects focused on governance of listed companies in regulated sectors.
- Diversity and inclusion are core aspects of her work. She has selected and mentored numerous female directors and executives from diverse professional and geographical backgrounds. She engages regularly in programs and initiatives focused on talent development and fostering career opportunities.
She holds a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan and a master’s degree in Business Administration from ESADE (Spain). Giovanna has also studied at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Italian is her mother tongue and she speaks fluent English and conversational Spanish. She is a Member of in Intheboardroom, a program led by ValoreD and dedicated to providing female senior executives with the skills needed for board services.
