Suzanne Burns is a member of Spencer Stuart’s global Industrial, Infrastructure, Construction & Building Materials, Digital, Private Equity and Board practices, serving manufacturing and distribution clients around the world. She brings more than 25 years of industrial industry experience spanning general management and growth-oriented roles such as strategic planning, global expansion, mergers and acquisitions, digital and marketing roles. Suzanne specializes in board, C-suite and senior-level assignments and succession planning consultation across multiple sectors, functions and regions. With her broad global operations experience, she helps organizations find leaders who can adapt to changing times by developing appropriate strategies, culture and talent.
Worldwide industrial experience
- Before joining Spencer Stuart, Suzanne served as chief talent officer for global industrial distributor W. W. Grainger. She also led the integration of the supply chain and distribution center networks of 11 previously acquired businesses into the company’s new U.S. business model.
- Suzanne was president of the Fluid Management subsidiary of IDEX Corporation. Prior to that, during her 17 years with Eaton Corporation, she served as division president and vice president/general manager of two global power quality businesses, oversaw the integration of hydraulic manufacturer Aeroquip-Vickers and headed the company's international development, where she established 15 startup equity investments in Asia and Latin America.
- Suzanne began her career as a management consultant with A.T. Kearney.
Suzanne is active in the community and serves on the boards of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Foundation, Communities In Schools of Chicago, Leadership Greater Chicago and serves as Spencer Stuart’s representation on the board of the Association of Executive Search Consultants. She is a member of The Executives' Club of Chicago, University Club of Chicago and the Association for Corporate Growth. Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University.
