Phillip Benedetti is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Financial Services Practice. With experience working across highly regulated industries, including banking, payments, insurance and healthcare, Phillip builds long-term partnerships based on a deep understanding of his client’s business and the levers for genuine value creation for shareholders, customers, employees and the broader community. While his work starts with helping source the right people, it evolves to include the strategic implications of those actions and how they can be a source of sustainable competitive advantage.

Based in New York, Phillip brings a truly global perspective to his work, having advised clients in Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and North America.

Architect of sustainable value creation

  • Originally from the U.S., Phillip spent 15 years working overseas, most recently as the founder and managing partner of Boston Consulting Group (BCG) New Zealand. In this role, he built the office from zero to a staff of more than 20 serving six of the top 10 businesses in New Zealand.
  • Phillip also served as head of corporate strategy and innovation for BCG in Australia and New Zealand. In this role, Phillip authored more than 15 publications and was globally responsible for the topic of “always-on” strategic planning.
  • Having led more than 80 client engagements as a management consultant, Phillip has seen firsthand the importance people play in delivering sustainable value creation, and is driven to help clients in their most consequential decisions for achieving success: building their teams.

Phillip holds a Master of Philosophy in bioscience enterprise, with distinction, from the University of Cambridge. He earned a Master of Science in chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude and was recognized as a Goldwater Scholar and a Vagelos Scholar. He is the author of numerous business and scientific publications.
