Murillo Tavares is a senior member of Spencer Stuart’s Consumer, Industrial and Private Equity practices in EMEA and Latin America. He was previously the country manager for Mexico and practice leader in Latin America. Based in Lisbon, he coordinates efforts to connect best teams and firm knowledge to serve leading Portuguese corporations globally.

Experienced adviser to leaders in transformation processes

  • Before Spencer Stuart, Murillo served as NED and PE Advisory Board member for companies in Retail, Education and e-commerce, and was member of Investment Committee for a successful venture capital firm in Latin America for a decade. He has advised private equity and venture capital firms about disruptive business models.
  • Prior to that, he headed transformation programs for global beverage companies in Brazil, Mexico and China. He also managed an 1,800 units convenience store chain in Mexico.
  • Murillo led the startup and consolidation of one of the earliest successful e-commerce companies across Latam and Iberia. Since its IPO, he has been an angel investor and mentor to leaders of several innovative companies in the region.
  • He started his career at McKinsey & Company, serving industrial and consumer companies in Brazil and Spain.

Murillo has a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from the Brazilian Aeronautics Technological Institute and a M.S. in Management from MIT Sloan School of Management, with a concentration in strategy, innovation and operations. A native Portuguese speaker, Murillo is also fluent in Spanish and English.
