A former CEO and CMO in the financial industry and driven DE&I advocate, Melchior brings first-hand perspective into the demands leaders face today. He helps multinational companies translate their strategies into the best board composition, and he has a passion for discovering and developing modern, diverse and inclusive CEOs, board directors and other C-level leaders who will have a lasting impact on their organizations. Naturally curious, Melchior is most energized when tackling complex questions and finding joint solutions to help organizations and the individuals within them continue to improve. He was recognized in 2022 as one of the Netherlands’ most inclusive leaders. Melchior has lived and worked in various cities in the United States, Asia and Europe.

Melchior has a specialized expertise in CEO succession, boards of directors, supervisory boards, retail banking, insurance, pensions, data science, innovation, platform economy, marketing and diversity, equity and inclusion for multinational and private equity-owned companies in the Netherlands, Europe and globally.

Previous experience

  • Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Melchior was the CEO of NN Next, a standalone business unit within the Dutch bank and insurer NN Group. He led NN Next as it launched and subsequently scaled up in the Netherlands and other markets in Europe.
  • Previously, he was the chief marketing officer and a member of the executive board for NN Hungary.
  • His extensive senior-level experience includes time in product marketing, innovation, data science and analytics.
  • Active in the Amsterdam nonprofit community, Melchior is also the founder and president of GEO Foundation, a nonprofit organization that connects LGBTQ+ senior leaders.

Education

Melchior received his master’s in international business studies from the University of Maastricht, and a master’s in marketing from TIAS Business School. He also completed the High Potentials Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
