Melchior de Ridder is a leadership advisor at Spencer Stuart, specializing in CEO and board succession for financial services organizations. He co leads the firm’s Financial Services Practice in the Benelux, advising fintechs, insurers, asset managers, banks and private equity-backed financial services companies and is a member of the global Insurance and Fintech practices.

  • CEO succession for a European payment company and a Dutch-listed insurance company
  • Chair succession for a UK-listed financial services company and Dutch pension fund
  • C-suite succession assignments including, chief information officer succession for an asset management company, chief financial officer succession for a Dutch bank and chief commercial officer succession for private equity-backed financial services companies
  • Non executive director successions across asset management, insurance, banking and professional services across Europe

As a former CEO and chief marketing officer in the financial sector, Melchior is a valued sparring partner for boards and CEOs on succession, leadership effectiveness, board reviews and long term talent decisions. He helps clients identify and develop leaders who can set direction in environments where technological change, AI disruption and rising stakeholder expectations accelerate change, and regulatory pressure and uncertainty complicate decision making.

Melchior is committed to strengthening diverse and inclusive leadership at the top of organizations. He is the founder and president of the G.E.O. Foundation, a nonprofit organization that connects and supports LGBTQ+ senior leaders.

Education

Melchior holds a master’s degree in international business studies from Maastricht University and a master’s in marketing from TIAS Business School. He also completed the High Potentials Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
