Based in Houston, Manie Dreyer brings 25 years of industry experience to Spencer Stuart’s Industrial Practice. He focuses primarily on CEO and senior executive assignments for clients in the metals, mining, agriculture and infrastructure sectors. Manie is also a member of the firm’s Board and CEO Practices. He previously served as the CEO of a mid-sized mining company in the USA and held senior leadership roles covering operations, marketing, project engineering and business development earlier in his career.
Since joining Spencer Stuart, Manie has conducted more than 100 board director and executive search assignments for clients in the natural resources, infrastructure and broader industrial sectors. He is also a recipient of the firm’s Lou Rieger Quality Award for client service.
CEO experience and broad global perspective
- Before joining Spencer Stuart, Manie was CEO of Bowie Resource Partners, a mining and trading company based in Louisville, Kentucky.
- Prior to this work, Manie spent 21 years at international mining company BHP Billiton, working across Africa, Europe, Asia, South America and the U.S. In his most recent role with BHP Billiton, he served as president of BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa from 2009 to 2014.
- During his career, Manie has lived in the United States, South Africa and Singapore. He previously served as director of the Richards Bay Coal Terminal in South Africa, director and executive council member of the South African Chamber of Mines, director of the U.S. National Mining Association and director of the World Coal Association.
Manie holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Johannesburg and a master's degree in business leadership from the University of South Africa.
