Kerri Burgess leads Spencer Stuart’s Financial Services Practice in the Asia Pacific region. She is also a member of the Board Practice and is heavily involved in advising clients on CEO succession planning. Kerri has more than 20 years of hands-on experience in financial services, both local and international. She has worked in senior executive roles in both line management and staff functions in Australia, Singapore, New York and London.
Global experience in banking, finance and law
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Kerri was with Citigroup in Australia. From 1995 to 2001, she served as head of strategy and business development, financial institutions group head, and chief of staff for Citigroup's corporate bank. During this time, she served as a company-appointed trustee for the Superannuation Fund in Australia.
- Following Citicorp’s merger with Travelers Group, she was selected for a special global team tasked with identifying cross-selling opportunities for the newly merged consumer, corporate and investment banks.
- Her other assignments included setting up a structured products marketing group for Asia and Europe as part of Citibank's investment bank activities in London and overseeing entry-level training for nine Asia Pacific countries in her role as a director of Citibank's Asia Pacific Banking Institute in Singapore. Earlier in her career, Kerri served as head of derivatives for Citibank Melbourne, as well as in various Citibank treasury sales and trading roles in Sydney.
Kerri began her career as a solicitor in the Sydney office of legal firm Clayton Utz. She holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney, and received a diploma from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. She is a member of the Chief Executive Women’s Association and serves on the Tennis NSW Corporate Advisory Board.
