Jennifer Herrmann is a trusted adviser to general counsel, boards, CEOs and the broader C-suite. Developing rich, long-term relationships with clients, candidates and individual executives more broadly, she is known for providing candid counsel based on a deep understanding of leadership excellence in the legal and governance function, clients’ specific business needs and culture, and what drives individual leaders.

Jennifer’s search and succession work focuses on Fortune 500 general counsel and senior in-house legal roles across multiple industries, especially financial services, insurance, industrial and consumer. She also helps general counsel become more successful leaders, advising on team development and effectiveness, succession, governance best practices, board effectiveness and their critical role as a connector between the leadership team and board.

  • Jennifer led Spencer Stuart's Legal, Compliance & Government Affairs Practice in North America and co-led it globally for over 15 years. Under her leadership, the practice built a reputation for exceptional quality, a collaborative approach to client service and a strong talent pipeline. In addition to her practice leadership, Jennifer served on the firm’s governance task force on behalf of the partnership and led the Philadelphia office.
  • A six-time recipient of the firm's annual award recognizing outstanding client service, Jennifer works closely with clients to prioritize the mix of capabilities, technical skills and intangible qualities required for success in the role. Her search and assessment work includes deputy general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer, among others. She also consults with boards, CEOs and general counsel on long-term succession planning, leadership development, team effectiveness, and board governance and effectiveness.
  • Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Jennifer was an attorney with the Philadelphia law firm of Marks, O'Neill, Reilly, O'Brien and Courtney, P.C., specializing in defense litigation. She is a member of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware state and federal bars.

Jennifer earned her law degree from Widener University School of Law and graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in international relations. Jennifer and her husband live in the Philadelphia suburbs and have three sons, one in college and twins who live and work in New York.
