William Alexander is a core member of Spencer Stuart's Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice as well as the Board and CEO practices. He specialises in the appointments of senior executives and non-executive directors within the converging arenas of technology, communications and media. William leads searches for both listed and private equity-backed companies and works on many of the critical leadership transitions that occur in these rapidly evolving sectors. He also supports chief executives with coaching through important phases in their career and facilitates projects to improve the effectiveness of top teams.
Experience in TMT leadership
William previously served as the global practice leader of the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice. He currently chairs Spencer Stuart’s own board nominating committee.
Before joining Spencer Stuart, William helped establish and led MetaPack, a private equity-backed software company, from start-up to sustainable profitability.
Prior to this, he was IBM's worldwide manager for retail supply chain solutions and the finance and development director at Broadsystem, the interactive media division of News International.
William started his career as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company.
William studied politics, philosophy and economics at Oriel College, Oxford, and has an M.B.A. from INSEAD.
