Will Dawkins, based in London, is a member of the firm’s Board Practice. He focuses on the appointments of chairmen, nonexecutive directors and chief executives in a range of industries, including finance, technology, manufacturing, business services, media and consumer goods. He also undertakes board evaluations and works in the UK and internationally.

Professional background

  • Prior to entering executive search, he worked for 23 years in a variety of posts for The Financial Times.
  • He spent 12 years as a foreign correspondent, with four-year postings in Tokyo, as bureau chief covering Japanese business, politics and industry; Paris, reporting on industry and technology; and Brussels, covering European Union trade, competition and industry policy.
  • He was deputy managing editor, foreign editor and later publishing editor of The Financial Times.

Will earned a master’s degree in English literature from Trinity College, Cambridge and attended the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD. He speaks basic French and some Japanese. Outside the world of search, he is a non-executive director of Downing Strategic Micro-Cap Investment Trust and chairs the Evelyn Trust, a £30m medical research grant giving charity based in his home town of Cambridge, where he is a governor of the Perse School. He is a former trustee and former chairman of the Oxford & Cambridge Rowing Association, the body that oversees the Oxford & Cambridge boat race.
