Based in Amsterdam, Stephan Veen is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Financial Services and Private Equity practices, and he also will develop the Sports Business Practice in The Netherlands. Stephan has more than two decades of banking experience in a range of commercial senior management roles.
Wide-ranging banking and management experience
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Stephan held various senior management roles within Rabobank, a Dutch multinational banking and financial services company. He was board member at a subsidiary of Rabobank and also regional director in The Netherlands (for mid-size companies).
- Previously, Stephan co-led the corporate lending department at Rabobank International and was responsible for financing transactions for AEX, AMX and large family-owned companies. Prior to this role he acted as senior relationship banker for a wide range of listed companies.
- He began his career as advisor for Rabobank’s corporate finance department in Amsterdam, focusing on the origination and execution of M&A and equity transactions.
Stephan has a master’s degree in business economics from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and has completed several executive management programs at the London Business School. He sits on the board of the Royal Dutch Hockey Federation and holds various board positions with other sports organizations. He was a distinguished field hockey player earlier in his sporting career, helping the Dutch national team win gold medals at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics. Stephan is fluent in English and Dutch and conversant in German.
