Ruth Malloy, Ph.D., is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Boston office. For more than 20 years, Ruth has helped Fortune 500 companies across a number of industries achieve their strategic goals through the assessment, development and alignment of their leadership and talent. She brings deep expertise in executive assessment, leadership transformation, talent management, succession planning, competency modeling, motivation and executive coaching.

Executive assessment and leadership advisory expertise

  • Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Ruth was the global managing director of the leadership and talent practice of an international consulting firm. She worked with clients to transform their cultures and leadership behaviors through the identification of key competencies, alignment of talent management processes, introduction of metrics, and the design of leadership solutions to support the strategy.
  • Ruth has also led succession planning and executive assessment engagements for key roles and has helped clients calculate the ROI on their leadership and talent investments. In addition, she developed innovative online tools to help organizations assess and develop their leadership and talent to improve performance.
  • A recognized global expert, Ruth has published and presented on topics including women in leadership, motivation and leadership effectiveness, and emotional intelligence. Ruth spoke at TEDx Fenway, presenting “From Leaning In to All In: What Organizations Can Do to Advance Women,” and co-authored “Leadership Run Amok: The Destructive Potential of Overachievers,” which was cited as one the most popular articles in Harvard Business Review (HBR) in 2006.

Ruth has a B.A. in psychology from Vassar College. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. from Boston University. She is a member of the Center for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations and American Psychological Association.
