Matthias Fritton, a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Frankfurt office, has spent his career advising senior executives who are navigating the challenges of leadership, change management, communications and regulatory strategy. He works with clients in the financial services, government and regulatory sectors. Matthias also specializes in corporate communications leadership roles in all industries. He has an extensive senior-level network within the financial sector, business, politics and the media in Germany and the EU.

Strategic advisor to CEOs

  • Before joining Spencer Stuart, Matthias was a senior general manager with Deutsche Börse Group AG. In that role, he was responsible for regulatory strategy, government relations, corporate communications, marketing and public affairs. He was a member of the executive team that led the merger integration with the London Stock Exchange Group (LSE).
  • Prior to this, Matthias was a partner with another global executive search consulting firm for eight years, focused primarily on public sector and financial services.
  • Earlier, he was global head of communications and marketing for Dresdner Bank and Dresdner Kleinwort Investment Bank, based in London.
  • Matthias served as the head of a political department with the German Ministry of Transportation. He began his career as speechwriter for Chancellor Helmut Kohl.

Matthias earned a master’s degree and doctorate in philosophy from the University of Tübingen. He is fluent in German and English, and conversant in French and Russian.
