Marcelo Massarente is a member of Spencer Stuart’s global Industrial Practice, and he leads the practice in Brazil. Based in São Paulo, Marcelo is an expert in industrial setups, including metals and mining, pulp and paper, cement, agribusiness, automotive and real estate. He has more than 20 years of experience in industry and management consulting, primarily in the energy, natural resources, base materials and agribusiness sectors.

Industrial expert with a strategic engineering mind

  • Before joining Spencer Stuart, Marcelo was a partner with a global professional services firm, where he began his career and worked for more than 21 years. Marcelo worked with top management of large national and multinational groups in the energy, resources and manufacturing industries, including metals, mining, aluminum, cement, pulp and paper, sugar and ethanol, automotive, building products, real estate, infrastructure and durable consumer goods.
  • He led engagements addressing corporate and business unit strategy, investment appraisal, due diligence, post-merger integration, operations improvement and cost reduction programs, product line profitability, salesforce redeployment, S&OP, organization redesign, board corporate governance and others.

Marcelo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica in Brazil. He also earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Marcelo speaks Marcelo speaks Portuguese, English and conversational Spanish.
