Based in Amsterdam, Joost Otterloo is a member of Spencer Stuart's Industrial Practice and a core member of the Supply Chain Practice in Europe, the Middle East in Africa. Joost has 20 years of international senior management experience in general management, human resources and finance.
Business leadership, M&A and transformation experience
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Joost was chief human resources officer (CHRO) and member of the management board at TNT Express, one of the world’s largest express delivery companies. In this position, he helped turn around the company and was heavily involved in the company’s acquisition by FedEx and early integration.
- Previously, Joost was CEO of De Lotto, the lottery of the Dutch Olympic Committee. He prepared the company for the opening of the Dutch online gambling market and initiated the merger with the Dutch state-owned lottery.
- Before that, Joost headed the European Retail and Out-of-Home business unit of CSM, a global supplier of bakery ingredients. In his role, he grew the company’s out-of-home market and helped CSM establish a retail presence in continental Europe.
- After an initial career at Price Waterhouse, Joost worked for 10 years at Unilever in global and regional human resources roles based in the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Sweden.
Joost sits on the board of Right to Play, a global organization that enhances child development in disadvantaged areas through sport and play. He holds a master’s degree in business economics from the University of Tilburg. He is fluent in Dutch and English, and conversant in Swedish.
