Hege Marie Norheim is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Energy and Industrial practices, with a particular emphasis on identifying leading executive talent for business and industry in Norway. She brings to her role extensive experience in the oil & gas industry and as an adviser to Norway’s central government. Hege is also a member of the firm’s Carbon Task Force which is dedicated to helping clients meet their ESG requirements and pivot their commercial, strategic and people plans to meet the UN Sustainable Development goals agenda.
Strong background in business and public affairs
- Hege comes to the firm from multinational Statoil, where she was responsible for the company’s sustainability strategies and global NGO partnerships. She also led the early-phase field development division on the Norwegian Shelf and was responsible for a majority of the companies’ upstream investments, including strategy, portfolio development and the Arctic.
- Hege joined Statoil through its merger with Norsk Hydro, where she managed the company’s investments in partner-operated fields through the entire value chain from exploration to market. Earlier, she oversaw global communications and public affairs for the company’s energy division.
- In her role as State Secretary for Norway’s Prime Minister and later for the Finance Minister, Hege was responsible for shaping governmental policy in a wide range of areas, including financial markets and tax policies, educational funding and industrial privatization. She spent eight years as a direct adviser to the Prime Minister, providing counsel on regulations affecting the nation’s industrial, financial, fishery and agricultural, educational and research sectors.
Hege is a graduate of the Norwegian School of Economics with a master’s degree in economics and business administration. She is fluent in Norwegian and English, with conversational skill in German and Spanish.
