Eduardo Tobon is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Consumer, Marketing Officer and Financial Services practices and serves a broad array of global clients. Drawing from his 20 years of senior leadership experience in the consumer and financial services industries, Eduardo focuses on executive searches in the consumer packaged goods and durables and hospitality and leisure sectors. He also works with clients in consumer financial services, including private wealth management and private equity. Eduardo brings broad experience in global brand management, consumer engagement, digital, product innovation, strategic alliances and joint ventures to his work with clients.

Global consumer and financial services experience with deep marketing insights

  • Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, he served as president of Diners Club International. During his tenure, he led a repositioning of the company to a more innovative and agile franchise business. He partnered with leading organizations in China, India and Japan, and launched new franchises on every continent, resulting in customer, transaction and volume growth in every region of operation. He also served as board chairman for Dinit, a card processor in Slovenia, and the Diners Club Italia franchisee, where he oversaw the sale of both companies.
  • Previously, Eduardo was CEO of payments at Santander, where he was responsible for launching a new division in the United States, an extensive portfolio of credit cards and merchant acquisition. He also recruited top global talent for product and portfolio management, acquisition, risk, analytics and planning roles.
  • Earlier in his career, Eduardo held roles at Procter & Gamble and the Mitchell Madison Consulting Group, a McKinsey and A.T. Kearney legacy company.

Eduardo holds a Bachelor of Engineering from EAFIT University in Colombia and an M.B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University. He has completed postgraduate studies at Harvard Business School. His insights have been featured in numerous publications, including the book Can’t Buy Me Like: How Authentic Customer Connections Drive Superior Results. Eduardo is fluent in Spanish.
