Chris Freedman is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Human Resources Practice and leads the firm’s total rewards platform. He advises leading public companies, private enterprises and private equity sponsors on the assessment, succession and recruitment of chief human resources officers (CHROs), heads of total rewards and other senior human capital leaders during periods of organizational transformation, growth and leadership transition.

Chris partners with CEOs, CHROs, boards of directors and private equity talent partners on leadership priorities including CHRO succession, enterprise HR leadership effectiveness, leadership assessment, team effectiveness and organizational culture and performance. His experience spans more than 400 engagements across industries, from Fortune 10 organizations to high-growth, pre-IPO companies, including complex cross-border assignments. He is also actively involved with the firm’s CHRO Xcelerator program, supporting the development of next-generation CHROs.

He brings a specialized focus in total rewards leadership, advising clients on the recruitment, succession and assessment of executives responsible for executive compensation, broad-based rewards, benefits, HR operations, workforce analytics and HR technology.

His work often supports organizations in aligning leadership capability, workforce cost structures and incentive design with enterprise performance goals, executive pay governance, critical talent retention and long-term growth priorities. Chris has led more than 100 executive search and succession engagements for rewards leadership roles, including more than 50 assignments for Fortune 500 companies.
Chris holds an A.B. in History and Political Science from Kenyon College.
