Chris Gagnon helps CEOs turn ambitious plans into business results. His approach combines the financial discipline of a private equity investor with decades of practical experience in talent, organizational performance and transformation.

Helping CEOs build the conditions for success

  • At CEO.Works, Chris partnered with CEOs to translate their value creation agendas into specific choices about talent, critical roles and how their companies operate. His work connects the ambition for the business to the people accountable for delivering it—and helps leadership teams move from plans to action.
  • At McKinsey & Company, Chris served as a senior partner and global co-leader of the organization practice. He advised CEOs and executive teams on how to reshape their organizations, strengthen leadership and improve performance through major transformations.
  • Chris also built and led McKinsey’s OrgSolutions group, bringing together more than 250 data scientists, psychologists and developers. The group developed tools including the Organizational Health Index, OrgLab and PeopleAnalytics to help leaders make better decisions about their organizations and talent.
  • Earlier in his career, Chris spent more than a decade as a private equity investor, fund builder and portfolio company board member. That experience grounds his advisory work in the economics of a business, the choices that drive enterprise value and the realities of execution.

Chris holds an M.B.A. from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. He has published in Harvard Business Review and McKinsey Quarterly and is a two-time recipient of McKinsey’s Gluck Award for Best Innovation.
