Bill is a seasoned communications leader with deep experience spanning in-house executive roles, agency advisory and journalism. Bill joined Spencer Stuart as chief communications officer in 2026 to spearhead the firm’s unified global communication strategy, partnering closely with the firm’s senior leadership team as well as colleagues across marketing, communications, the people team and global meetings and events.

  • Bill was previously head of corporate communications at Prudential Financial, where he led media relations, corporate reputation, executive positioning, crisis preparedness and financial communications for the firm.
  • As vice president of corporate communications at the global media company Discovery, Bill oversaw internal and external messaging for the CEO and CFO, earnings and transaction communications and media relations.
  • Bill was an associate at the strategic communications agency Brunswick Group, where he supported a multitude of financial services and Fortune 500 firms.
  • Bill began his career as a journalist, working as a foreign correspondent for the Wall Street Journal in Germany, where he reported on financial and the European debt crises, and later as a New York-based media reporter. He also reported from the Paris bureau of the New York Times and worked at American Banker in New York, covering the subprime mortgage industry prior to the financial crisis.

Bill holds a bachelor's degree in foreign service from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. He speaks English, German and French.
