Anna Hocker is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Munich office and a member of the Digital & Technology Officer and Technology, Media & Telecommunications practices, with a focus on digital consumer and technology companies. Her expertise spans digital transformation, organizational development, marketing and sales strategy.

A diverse career devoted to furthering digital expertise and talent

  • Before joining Spencer Stuart, Anna was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she worked with high-tech and electronics companies across Europe, the Middle East and the U.S.
  • Over the course of her PhD studies, Anna applied her management expertise to a two-year secondment at Hubert Burda Media in several areas, including corporate human resources and B2B marketing. She also developed the sales organization for an ad-tech spin-off and was the project manager for the organizational and leadership transformation of a subsidiary.
  • Through various international assignments in New York City, Bangkok, Helsinki and the UK early in her education and career, Anna gained experience with companies in the media, e-commerce and startup sectors.

Further, Anna co-developed the pro bono project New Start, a European peace initiative of German entrepreneurs and investors, founded in 2022 in response to the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine. A concept initiated to destabilize the power of belligerent dictators by offering unjust war combatants to exit the war zone.

Anna completed her PhD at the renowned Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute at the Technical University of Dortmund, where she conducted empirical experimental research on entrepreneurial leadership behavior in startups and growth companies. She completed her doctorate with the highest distinction Summa Cum Laude. She earned a Bachelor of Science at the WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management, and a Master of Science in management and technology focusing on entrepreneurship and computer science at the Technical University of Munich. Additionally, she is currently in training as a systemic coach at the Institute for Applied Psychology in Cologne (IfAP).
