Increase in bilateral executive searches: Spencer Stuart launches China Desk in Germany

November 2019
  • Companies from China and the DACH region are increasingly looking for senior managers
  • Yanli Chen, a competent expert on cross-border business consulting for Chinese and German companies, joins Spencer Stuart

Frankfurt / Munich / Düsseldorf, November, 2019 – Bilateral trade and investment between China and Germany continues to increase. Prominent executives, who understand the economic and regulatory market conditions in both countries and who can integrate different cultures, are therefore becoming increasingly important for successful cross-border business relationships. Spencer Stuart, one of the world's leading executive search and leadership consulting firms, has opened a China Desk based in Frankfurt to meet the growing need for bilateral consulting. With extensive experience on cross-border business between Germany and China, Yanli Chen has joined Spencer Stuart to launch the China Desk.

As investors, joint venture partners or acquirers, Chinese companies are increasingly active in Europe, especially in the DACH region. Spencer Stuart has opened the China Desk to provide comprehensive advisory services to Chinese companies, as well as Western conglomerates and medium-sized multinational corporations, who are facing a more competitive and stricter regulatory market in China. Thus, top executives who truly understand the political, cultural and economic environment in both countries are essential for long-term and sustainable success.

"We have been supporting international companies with their engagement in China, as well as Chinese companies in Europe. We help them to find and evaluate the most suitable candidates for leadership positions – expatriates or local managers. The China Desk in Germany acts as a network hub for our offices in Europe and China." said Dr. Oliver Köster, Spencer Stuart in Germany. "We are delighted that Ms. Chen has joined us to launch the China Desk."

Yanli Chen (37) was previously responsible for business development of the China Desk and Banking & Capital Markets practice group at Clifford Chance Germany. Prior to that, she was part of the Sino-German initiative at White & Case LLP. Yanli Chen studied in China and Germany. She holds a postgraduate degree in business administration and economics from the University of Bayreuth.
