Edward Speed is active in chairman & CEO succession work, as well as board searches for international organizations. He was until recently global chairman of Spencer Stuart for the past six years. Edward also led Spencer Stuart’s EMEA Board and CEO Practice, focusing on CEO search and succession. He has recruited chairmen, non-executive directors, CEOs and top management for leading public and privately owned companies.

Industry and consulting experience

  • Edward joined Spencer Stuart in 1990 and has 30 years of executive recruiting experience across a wide range of board and senior management positions. He was previously responsible for Spencer Stuart’s Consumer Packaged Goods & Durables Practice in EMEA, which included retail, luxury and apparel, hospitality and leisure, and marketing services.
  • Edward also works with Leadership Assessment Services, specialising in senior management evaluation and post-merger integration consulting.
  • He has written several articles for Spencer Stuart on subjects ranging from leadership roles in consumer packaged goods multinationals to CEO transition in Europe.
  • Early in his career, Edward served in senior management roles with a British manufacturing group and an international food company before spending three years with a leading recruitment firm. He has lived and worked in France, Germany and the Middle East.

Edward is on the Development Board of the Francis Crick Institute in London, a global centre for cancer research. A graduate of Cambridge University, Edward speaks Arabic, French and German.
