Based in Boston, Mike Anderson helps clients assess and improve the effectiveness of individual executives, teams and boards. He works across all industries and has extensive experience with the firm’s Financial Services and Business & Professional Services practices.

Extensive leadership and management experience

  • In addition to his work with clients, Mike was formerly the chief innovation officer and global head of products and service for Spencer Stuart, overseeing substantial growth in services that complement the firm’s core search offerings, including CEO succession planning, senior-level executive assessment and board effectiveness. He previously oversaw its offices globally and, prior to that, led the firm’s North American region.
  • Mike joined Spencer Stuart from McKinsey & Company, where he focused on strategy, marketing, organizational design, human resources and change management, primarily for clients in the insurance and asset management industries. In addition to his client work, he also launched and built the firm’s worldwide experienced hire recruiting capability.
  • Previously, Mike was a partner with another global search firm and a vice president with Bankers Trust Company. Before business school, he was a business analyst with the Boston Consulting Group.

Mike earned his A.B. in economics from Harvard College and his M.B.A. with academic distinction from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. He is a graduate of the Hudson Institute’s Executive Coaching program and is certified to deliver several leading assessment instruments.
