Based in Amsterdam, Chris Lakens is a member of Spencer Stuart’s global Consumer Practice, with a focus on the consumer products sector. Chris has 20 years of international senior management experience in the beverages industry.
Global consumer leadership experience
- Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Chris built an international career with Heineken, the leading global beer company. Chris held a variety of senior commercial roles in marketing, sales and general management on local, regional and global levels.
- Most recently, Chris led brand development for the global portfolio of international brands and craft from the corporate headquarters in Amsterdam, leading strategy, commercial development and geographical expansion in Europe and the Americas. The business consistently outperformed company average growth, becoming the fastest-growing brand portfolio in the company over the last few years.
- Before this, Chris held several operational roles in the Netherlands and internationally, including GM for Heineken in Puerto Rico and brand director for Amstel in the Netherlands. He also was Ahold’s account director in The Netherlands for Vrumona, Heineken’s soft drinks subsidiary and bottler for Pepsico in the Netherlands.
Chris holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. He has lived and worked in various countries and is fluent in Dutch and English. Chris currently lives in Amsterdam with his wife and three children.
