Located in the Boston office, Steve Kelner works with clients across industries globally to improve their talent management strategies and individual executive development programs. With deep expertise in executive competencies, motivation, leadership assessment and development, Steve also plays an integral role in the development and execution of the firm’s approach to assessment. He has written extensively on leadership and motivation, with specific attention on board, CIO, CFO and chief counsel roles.

Strong assessment expertise

  • Steve most recently served for 10 years in the leadership strategy services practice of another global executive search firm, where he led the development and execution of executive assessment and development services in collaboration with colleagues around the world.
  • Previously, Steve built and led a consulting and training organization for WebCT, where he developed a web-based platform for higher education.
  • Earlier, Steve ran the consulting arm of an executive consortium dedicated to quality management. He began his career with Hay/McBer, where he served as a senior consultant and director of new products and services.

Steve holds a Ph.D. in personality psychology from Boston University. He also has a Master of Education degree in human development and psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and social relations from Harvard University.
