Andrew MacDougall holds an M.B.A. degree in finance from Universite Laval and a B.A. in economics from McGill University. Before joining Spencer Stuart, he was vice president and regional manager of a major Canadian full-service vehicle leasing company, with full P&L responsibility for all activities in Ontario and Western Canada. Prior to that, he held the position of assistant vice president and group head of corporate banking for Canadian Chartered Bank, where he had extensive experience in the initiation, structuring and execution of a broad range of transactions in Canada and the United States and where he also led the Bank's forest products and transportation specializations.
Since joining Spencer Stuart in 1989, Andrew has conducted numerous CEO, board director and senior management assignments in all major regions of the world. He is a member of the firm's global Financial Services Practice and is the Canadian representative in the firm's Board Services Practice. Andrew has developed a particular expertise in advising clients on effective CEO succession planning and selection.
Andrew previously served as manager of the firm's Toronto and Montreal offices, and is a consultant with the firm, an elected member of its worldwide board of directors and past chairman of the nominations committee. He is a founding member and sits on the nominating committee of The Japan Society and is active in various other business and not-for-profit groups, including serving on the board of the Canadian Psychiatric Research Foundation and the honourary board of the Canadian Paraplegic Association. Andrew speaks French and Spanish.
