Jorge Barbat joined Spencer Stuart in 1997 to establish Spencer Stuart’s Life Sciences Practice in Spain. He was managing director of both of the firm’s Spanish Offices from 2000 to 2004.
Jorge serves clients as a life sciences specialist at the Pan European level. At the local level, Jorge has works also with clients in the Consumer Goods and the Technology sectors including Internet-based companies. He has led assignments in non-executive-director positions, board evaluation, top management, management assessments, and functional roles with particular focus in research & development.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart Jorge worked as management consultant with The MAC Group/Gemini Consulting out of Madrid, and London, for clients like the Spanish government, healthcare services and insurance providers, and with top-tier pharmaceutical and medical supplies companies across Europe. He led cross-functional transformation projects in strategy, organization and operations. After his clinical training as a medical specialist in Hospital Clinic of Barcelona (MIR), Jorge worked in hospital administration and in reimbursement optimization for leading HMOs and hospital companies in Spain and the US.
Jorge is a licensed physician from Barcelona University, and medical lieutenant of the Spanish Army. He earned his M.B.A. from the Yale University SOM as a Fulbright scholar. He speaks English, Spanish and Catalan.
