Midori Katsumata

Based in Tokyo, Midori Katsumata is a core member of Spencer Stuart’s global Financial Services Practice. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Midori brings valuable insight to the recruitment of senior functional executives and general management for financial services clients.

Midori joined the firm in 2008 from General Electric Company, where she held a variety of leadership roles over her 11-year tenure in its financial services businesses, including business development and product marketing. Midori also was chief risk officer for GE Edison Life Insurance and held the Six Sigma Quality leader role for GE Consumer Finance. Her last position was managing director for Global Enterprise Client Group in GE Commercial Finance. In addition, while at GE, Midori had the opportunity to work in the U.S. to develop her leadership skills and expand her international experience.

Prior to her time with GE, Midori spent seven years with The Industrial Bank of Japan (now Mizuho Financial Group), engaging in cross-border M&A advisory. Midori started her career at Lloyds Bank Plc and gained experience in areas of commercial banking, including trade finance and foreign exchange trading.

Midori holds a B.A. in intercultural communication from International Christian University in Japan and an M.B.A. from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley.

Midori is fluent in Japanese and English.
