Cliff Howe joined Spencer Stuart in 2008 and helped to open the Calgary office, expanding the firm’s presence in Canada. Cliff leads the Energy Practice in Canada and is also a member of the global Professional Services Practice as well as the Financial Officer Practice.
Cliff is a Chartered Accountant who began his professional career with KPMG in Calgary and then spent nine years at TransCanada, where he held various vice president roles in the energy trading, marketing, risk management and CFO groups. After helping TransCanada divest its energy marketing and trading business in 2002, Cliff joined Risk Capital as a partner and opened its first Canadian office in Calgary. Risk Capital was an independent management consulting firm headquartered in New York that provided risk and transaction advisory services to companies in the energy, chemicals, mining and financial services industries. In 2006, Towers Perrin acquired Risk Capital and Cliff worked in Towers Perrin's enterprise risk management and executive compensation and rewards groups before joining Spencer Stuart.
Cliff received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary in 1984 and earned his CA designation from the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1986.
