George Jamison leads the firm's corporate communications business. Based in the firm's Stamford office, he brings more than 20 years of communications and public relations experience, focusing on the recruitment of senior corporate communications, investor relations, and marketing communications executives across a variety of industries. He also is a member of the firm's Consumer Goods & Services, Marketing Officer and Diversity practices.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, George was vice president of communications for United Technologies Corporation, where he led the company's advertising, media relations, internal communications, publications, community relations and charitable giving activities. He joined United Technologies from General Motors' Hughes Electronics Corp., where he had been vice president of communications since 1999. At Hughes, George's team was responsible for major advertising, media relations, brand management and other corporate communications programs. During his term, George led and directed a complete re-design of Hughes' brand, including logo design, identity guidelines and advertising messaging.
Previously, George was with General Electric Company for 15 years, serving as vice president of media relations and corporate communications at CNBC; manager of international communications; and media relations’ program manager. Prior to that, he spent four years in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a media relations action officer in the Pentagon.
George is an accomplished writer and his newspaper and magazine articles have been published in a wide range of publications. He also co-authored a book, Welcome to Club Dad, published in 1991. He was named one of the top marketers of the year by BtoB magazine for both 2003 and 2004.
He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University. He is a member of the PR Seminar and the Arthur W. Page Society, and is a vice president of the board of trustees of the Mark Twain Center in Hartford, Conn.
