With more than 25 years of executive search experience, Rick Lannamann specializes in senior investment and wealth management searches. He joined Spencer Stuart as a vice chairman in 2002 to help build the global Financial Services Practice, which now is the largest practice in the firm. Its asset management sub-practice has become the leader in the executive search industry. Rick previously spent 23 years at another major recruiting firm, where he founded its global asset management practice, co-headed its global financial services practice, served on the executive committee, and chaired the company's investment and wealth accumulation committees.
Rick's recent assignments have included recruiting CEOs for two large publicly traded asset management firms, CEOs for three privately held asset managers, chief investment officers for three leading universities, a major foundation and two wealth managers, several key analysts and portfolio managers, and a number of mutual fund trustees. He is a frequent speaker on institutional investors’ role in corporate governance and has chaired two CFA Institute conferences on managing investment organizations.
Rick graduated from Yale College with a bachelor's degree in economics and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and, earlier in his career, was an investment analyst at the United States Trust Company of New York, a vice president of the research division of Smith Barney, and a senior vice president and portfolio manager at Management Asset Corporation.
Rick is a trustee of The Jackson Laboratory and the Foreign Policy Association and chairman of the board of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
