Toshikazu (Toshi) Yabuno began his professional career with Daiwa Securities Co., Ltd. He held various positions that included managing client relationships with major Japanese and multinational financial institutions in the institutional sales & marketing department, planning and developing training programs for the professional staff in the human resources development department, and providing corporate finance advisory services to non-Japanese multinational companies in the international investment banking department.
Toshi joined another leading international executive search firm in 1996. Although, in his latter years, he focused a large portion of his time on assignments in the financial services industry, he has also conducted several senior-level assignments for a wide variety of industries that include professional services, consumer products and industrial. Since joining Spencer Stuart in 1999, Toshi has become a core-member of the global Financial Services Practice, and led the Financial Services Practice for the Asia-Pacific region from 2001 until 2006.
Toshi holds a B.A. degree in law from Keio University and an M.B.A. degree from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Toshi lived several years abroad during his childhood. Upon returning to Japan, he had the interesting task of assimilating himself to his motherland, both in terms of Japanese language and culture.
