Paul Earle is a member of the firm's Life Sciences and Board Services practice groups. Paul has served as chairman of Spencer Stuart's professional practices committee, responsible for the assurance of quality of the firm's services to clients. He also served on Spencer Stuart's audit committee for four years, two of which he chaired. He is located in the firm's Chicago office.
Paul brings nearly 40 years of experience as a respected healthcare industry executive and consultant. He joined Spencer Stuart in 1988 and helped found Spencer Stuart's Life Sciences Practice. He served for eight years as the leader of the firm's global practice serving this industry. Paul’s search practice focuses on recruiting corporate directors, trustees and senior-level executives, both in life sciences and across industries. He has successfully completed searches for board members, CEOs, COOs and senior executives in most line and staff functions.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Paul was the senior vice president, CFO and treasurer of one of the Harvard Medical Centers. Earlier, he was executive director and CEO of the Voluntary Effort, the national coalition that developed private sector initiatives to control healthcare costs. In this position, he worked closely with the Business Roundtable (Fortune 200 CEOs) to develop a number of successful cost containment strategies used by American business corporations. Paul's other career experience includes serving as a senior executive for The American Hospital Association, where he assisted with healthcare policy and strategy development at the national trade association and in Washington, D.C. He began his business career in finance at a Fortune 500 company. Paul also serves on the board of Kids Hope United, a Chicago-based organization serving children and families including pre-school, daycare and residential services.
Paul received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Princeton University in 1961 and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Chicago in 1966.
