Olaf Geretzki is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Financial Services, Private Equity and Real Estate practices. He has nearly two decades of experience in corporate finance, private equity and real estate, and has worked as both an adviser and investor. He brings a comprehensive, global industry perspective to his work with clients.
Hands-on operational experience in financial services, private equity and real estate
- Throughout his career, Olaf has led a vast range of large-scale, complex mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital markets transactions. He has handled post-merger integrations, IPO preparation and debt restructurings, and has hands-on experience in operational improvement projects and cost reductions.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Olaf was a senior director at AlixPartners, where he served on the turnaround and performance improvement team in London. During his tenure, he executed complex operational and financial restructurings across various industries. Olaf also led multiple due-diligence exercises and portfolio company transformation engagements with leading private equity firms.
- Olaf spent five years at Oaktree Capital Management, where he worked on various private equity and real estate deals. He successfully closed multiple large transactions valuing several billion dollars and played a major role in the operational and financial restructuring of several portfolio companies, including acting as interim CFO of a listed real estate company.
- He started his career in Morgan Stanley’s M&A department in Frankfurt.
Olaf graduated from Otto-Friedrich University with a degree in business administration (Diplomkaufmann). In addition, he holds a diploma as qualified banker (Bankkaufmann). He is fluent in German and English, and has working knowledge of Spanish.
