Pepe Barroilhet leads Spencer Stuart’s Metals & Mining Practice in Latin America and is a member of the Industrial Practice. Passionate about the impact of leadership on companies and the communities and countries in which they operate, Pepe advises a broad range of industrial businesses in Latin America and beyond on CEO succession planning and transitions, board and executive search, leadership development, and organizational culture and transformation. He previously managed the firm’s Santiago office.

A seasoned adviser to the board and C-suite

  • In addition to the mining sector, Pepe has deep expertise in the energy, infrastructure and engineering industries. He leads search assignments for a range of senior general management and functional roles for organizations throughout the region. Pepe’s recent work has included advising top Latin American mining and energy companies on CEO succession, supporting strategic transformation and organizational restructuring initiatives, and recruiting directors to industrial company boards.
  • In addition to his client work, Pepe regularly contributes to thought leadership for the mining and other industrial sectors, including "Mining for Value," highlighting the lessons CEOs learned from the last “super cycle.”
  • Pepe also works with non-profit organizations to enhance their senior leadership teams, recruiting CEOs, board directors and fundraisers.
  • Early in his career, Pepe served as an industrial engineer with Cade-Idepe (now Amec), one of the largest engineering consulting firms in Chile.

A graduate of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile’s industrial engineering program, Pepe also has a diploma in international relations from Tokyo University. He is fluent in Spanish and English and also speaks Portuguese.
