Fran Helms is a member of the firm’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice. She focuses on top talent needs with an emphasis on recruiting executives to deliver consumer-oriented offerings that range from traditional entertainment in film, music, broadcast and cable television to new digital media platforms such as over-the-top streaming services and supporting devices. Within the Spencer Stuart TMT practice, Fran is an expert in the media sector and coordinates the firm’s market coverage and knowledge development in this space. She also provides significant support to private equity firms and their portfolio companies spanning media and technology. Acknowledged by her colleagues for high-quality work on behalf of her clients, Fran is a recipient of the firm’s prestigious Lou Rieger Quality Award.

- Fran has successfully completed searches for CEO and president-level executives in addition to top functional leadership positions across a mix of traditional and digitally native content-led businesses. With expertise in the functions that drive these businesses, Fran frequently recruits chief content officers, chief product officers and chief marketing officers, among other functional disciplines, across a span of businesses increasingly leveraging digital and direct-to-consumer channels to reach and engage key audiences. She also supports clients who provide information services and who deliver infrastructure to the media sector.
- Before joining Spencer Stuart in 2005, Fran played a key role in growing two leading-edge interactive television infrastructure and content businesses during a significant growth period for the emerging market segment.
- Following an early career in product management for Apple, Fran played leadership roles across corporate development and marketing for Liberate Technologies, now owned by Comcast. Fran also chaired the first industry-wide technology alliance focused on defining common Linux platforms for use on TV-enabled consumer devices.
Fran earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and her M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
