The Graceful Exit: Lessons from CEOs

How you leave your organization may be almost as important as how you lead it. This article, published in the March 2007 issue of Trustee, considers how CEOs can best plan for a graceful exit from the role. It looks at issues such as the timing of the CEO’s departure, his or her role in planning the transition and identifying a successor, and to whom and when to reveal the decision to leave.
