The highlights of this year’s Board Index are:
- Four companies in the survey are newly quoted since last year
- Nine companies in the survey have been acquired since last year
- There is a slight increase in chairmen counted as full-time
- 97 per cent now pay more than £30,000 basic fee
- Average basic non executive fee is £46,100
- 69.3 per cent of companies have at least one woman non-executive
- The trend towards fewer meetings has halted
- 99 per cent pay additional fees to committee chairmen, up from 83 per cent
- Almost three quarters of companies carry out board evaluations internally
