November 2004

Spencer Stuart and the Software & Information Industry Association are pleased to present Software Industry Executive Outlook 2005, which explores industry trends, talent needs and the challenges and opportunities facing software companies. The survey of software executives also looks at executive attitudes about operational issues, talent recruitment and retention, and outsourcing. Among the study’s findings:

  • More than half of survey respondents anticipate revenue growth of at least 20% for 2004.
  • Nearly three-quarters of respondents indicated that the state of IT spending is one of the most important strategic factors affecting their company.
  • Retaining top performers is the top talent priority for software companies.
  • Just 9% of companies overall report that headcount reduction remains a priority.
