The roles of science and technology committees are rapidly evolving, and in turn, so is their proven and potential impact to influence companies’ strategic decisions regarding innovation and technology. We conducted a survey of 221 boards with science and technology committees and spoke with sitting committee members to learn more about committee development, composition and organization inter-workings. The first article reports our findings, giving you information that may be helpful for deciding whether a science and technology committee is right for your board.
In the second article, retired CEOs share the art of performing a graceful exit. When is the right time? With whom do you discuss retirement plans? How do you stay connected afterwards? These concerns, along with more intricate details, are addressed with input from five CEOs who have successfully transitioned from the CEO role.
