A different set of rules: Marketing in a private equity environment

September 2007

As the influence of private equity has increased, many of the most experienced business executives are taking a long look at private equity opportunities. Marketing executives are not immune; a 2007 Spencer Stuart survey found that 86 percent of senior-level marketing and general management leaders who had never worked in private equity would consider a private equity role today.

The fifth annual Spencer Stuart CMO Summit brought together a panel of private equity and portfolio company leaders to discuss the realities of marketing in a private equity environment, including the role of the marketing function in a portfolio company and the career and leadership considerations for marketing leaders.
