Our inaugural UK Consumer Board Index aims to provide useful information regarding the composition and activities of leading UK consumer company boards and identify major issues and trends emerging in the sector.
Highlights of the UK Consumer Board Index 2006 include:
- Boards are smaller in the consumer sector than in the FTSE 150 as a whole.
- Non-executives account for a higher proportion of consumer board directors than they do on the other FTSE 150 boards.
- Women on consumer boards account for a higher proportion of the total number of directors than they do on FTSE 150 boards as a whole.
- Average remuneration for non-executive directors on consumer boards is marginally higher than the rest of the FTSE 150.
- Conflicts of interest over the appointment of executive directors appear to arise more often on the boards of consumer companies.
