Roger is a member of Spencer Stuart's global Consumer Goods & Services and Technology, Communications & Media practices, and is located in our Toronto office. He has recruited senior management for a variety of retail and packaged goods, and hospitality and leisure clients. From a functional perspective, he has completed a range of assignments including president, chief operating officer, marketing, sales, finance, operations, human resources, technology and legal counsel. In addition, he has placed a number of key executives into the technology, professional services and media sectors.
Roger brings over 20 years of experience in a variety of general management and marketing positions in the packaged goods industry, as well as five years as a management consultant. Before joining Spencer Stuart, Roger was senior vice president of marketing, of Southam, Canada's largest publisher of newspapers. His primary focus was on directing the development of the strategic plans for the newspaper group's 20 daily papers, as well as development of the corporate plan.
Previously, he was senior vice president of marketing and a member of the executive committee at Molson Breweries, where he had profit and loss responsibility for all 48 brands in Canada. Roger managed the marketing resources and sports group responsible for Molson's international business and the company's various marketing services departments, as well as all business matters associated with the National Hockey League, Indy Cart and Grand Prix racing car programs.
After 10 years with Colgate-Palmolive and General Foods, Roger spent close to five years with Tandem International, a management consulting firm that specializes in marketing and general management.
He holds an M.B.A. degree in marketing and organizational behavior from York University and a B.A. in psychology and economics from Wilfred Laurier University.
