Based in Spencer Stuart's Beijing office, Jian Wu brings to his role 20 years of global experience and knowledge of general management, operations leadership, marketing, sales and technology acquired through diverse industry experience in the U.S. and Asia. A member of the firm’s Industrial Practice, Jian focuses on consulting and searches for senior-level general management and functional executive assignments for clients across a wide range of industries.
Jian joined Spencer Stuart following 16 years at Weyerhaeuser, where he served most recently as managing director of Weyerhaeuser Forestry China and chairman of Weyerhaeuser’s Chinese joint venture. During this time he developed Weyerhaeuser China’s entry strategy in forestry and subsequently set up and managed the company’s China joint venture. Prior to that, he held several positions in R&D before taking on a pulp sales role in the Asia Pacific region, where he led the establishment of the Hong Kong sales office covering Greater China, Korea, Australia, India and Southeast Asia. Before going abroad for graduate studies, Jian worked as a research scientist for a research institute in Mainland China.
Born and raised in Mainland China, Jian graduated from Northwestern Agricultural University in Yangling, China. He received Master of Science degrees and holds a Doctor of Philosophy both from the University of Washington in Seattle.
